Caught in a Headshake
Colt by Going To The Doc, a buckskin AQHA Calf Roping Champion. This is the most recent foal. Only one more due this season. Be watching in late June.
Every now and then you need to try something different. This self portrait with foal was taken from a hand held camera at nearly ground level.
Rainbow over yearlings. The rainbow base is on my two favorite yearlings
Moonrise in the night clouds
This past Thursday a new mare was introduced to the broodmare pasture. This foal tries to introduce herself but is told "leave me alone kid."
Blue Roan mare has sort of adopted the youngsters in the pasture and tries to be protective. She blocks off the foal and tells the new mare to stay away.
She then escorts her charges away from the interloper
The new mare
Blue roan watches to see that New Mare keeps her distance.
In the last 15 minutes of light I headed out to the front pasture to photograph the most recent filly foal which was born last week. I caught her running to her dam.
This is another photo of the first foal of the year. She is also a filly
I caught these two fillies visiting. They will soon be really tight buddies
On Sunday, July 5, I brought my camera so that I could get a photo of the last and most recent foal born at the ranch. I had brought them into the roundpen to get them out of the hot sun.
While I was in the roundpen the two Vizsla dogs were not to happy that I had excluded them from the fun and were doing everything they could to get in. You will find a short photographic story in this Gallery.
