Two more cattle barns

This is a quick watercolor on 5x7 paper of an old cattle barn on SH 34 in Terrell, Tx, across from the Home Depot turnoff. There was once a house next to this barn which was torn down this past spring. The mailbox on the house had the name Ramsey. Cattle Barn on Kaufman County Road 303. This is one of my favorites, located at the base of a tree line. I have seen it at many times of day but finally got to take a photo of it with my iPhone a few weeks ago. The only thing is I did not get a good detail shot of it. Perhaps that is better, but I will try again at another time. Watercolor and Gouache in 6x10 watercolor sketch journal.

Abandoned Haybarn

This is an old abandoned hay barn behind the arena at the ranch. I have watched it fall apart over the last 15 years. I think sometimes it is but another storm from collapsing. This watercolor was done with 3 colors: Madder Lake Deep, Cobalt Blue, and Lemon Yellow chosen based on the best available on the Quiller Color Wheel.

Another Starbucks series drawing entitled "Just Noses" based on an iPhone image taken of a herd of yearling colts.

Friday, June 08, 2012

This evening I did another one of my Starbucks series drawings. This time I worked on a Self Portrait with Yearlings from a cell phone image. I have included both an image at time of completing drawing and the resulting detail drawing. It might be the subject of a future acrylic.
